Welcome to a new season of rugby at Farnborough RUFC with the Colts squad.

We are a succesful squad of players and have a very strong coaching team with qualitfied RFU Level 1 and 2 coaches.

We welcome any new players regardless of ability and experience, come along to one of the training sessions or come and watch us on a matchdays.

Our fixtures are shown on the club fixtures page.

We encourage the squad to play senior rugby after they are 17, in recent seasons a large number of our lads in both the first and second team matches.

This year we will be playing in the Hampshire Colts 2nd league and look forward to a successful season building on the fine finish to last season. We play a variety of local and not so local club sides. The aim being to play all squad members during the variety of fixtures we arrange.

We aim to develop all players to their maximum potential by building on their strengths and working on areas for development rugby is after all a team and hence a squad game.

Squad Information.....

Training focuses on both ball handling and distribution skills (running, passing), contact skills (tackling, rucking, mauling) as well as the set piece plays (8 man scrum and lineout), with the emphasis on enjoying the game. Positional play is important and the players are split into a forwards and backs division.

We also plan defensive and offensive strategies - these make a big part of our game planning.

At colts level the game progresses with strategy and heads up Rugby becoming a very important component of success on the field.

The squad on a match days is as important as the starting line up with the use of tactical substitution during a match very much part of the modern game.
